2025 Center for Education Transformation - Writing Residencies
On-site- Salzburg, Salzburg, Austria
Program (Session Recruitment)
Job description
2025 Salzburg Global Center for Education Transformation Writers Residency
We live in an era of convergent diplomatic, health, societal, economic, and environmental crises. Education has a critical role to play in both addressing these current crises and helping populations develop the skills and behaviors to navigate or, better still, avoid analogous crises in the future.
The Salzburg Global Center for Education Transformation supports a wide range of activities designed to help develop new approaches to critical and emerging issues in education.
We focus on education leadership, social, emotional, and creative skills, regenerative education, language policy, the potential of education to create a more inclusive future, and education in emergencies. In line with Salzburg Global Seminar’s mission, we challenge current and future leaders to shape a better world where every learner can thrive and fulfill their full potential.
Since 2023, the Center has offered three annual writing residencies to support the development and dissemination of new thinking around education transformation. Our inspiring environment at Schloss Leopoldskron allows people from across the globe to work in a new setting, away from the restrictions and pressures of their everyday lives. It provides the time and space for individuals to develop their work and creatively explore new ideas.
THE RESIDENCY OFFERS:
- Residential stay at Schloss Leopoldskron for up to three weeks, including meals
- Travel to and from Salzburg
- Use and access to the facilities at Schloss Leopoldskron
- Potential to participate in Salzburg Global Seminar programs happening during the residency
- Connections to thought partners, through the local community and our wider Salzburg Global Fellowship
- Communications and dissemination opportunities
- Potential for collaboration with other Salzburg Global Programs and Fellows
OUR ASK:
- Acknowledgement of Salzburg Global Seminar’s support
- At least one 600-to-800-word article to be published on the Transforming Education Channel we host with Diplomatic Courier.
Fellows will be selected through a competitive application process and applications will be reviewed based on:
- Project purpose and scope
- Alignment with Salzburg Global Seminar’s mission and at least one of the six focal areas for the Center for Education Transformation (education leadership, social, emotional and creative skills, regenerative education, language policy, the potential of education to create a more inclusive future, education in emergencies)
Candidates interested in the residency are encouraged to submit their application through the following form.
The application deadline is October 1, 2024. Applicants will be notified about the result of their application by November 1, 2024.
